The ZYG 808 offers a variety of workshops in music, spoken-word, and performance for high school, college, and community-based cultural and educational organizations and institutions. Opportunities are described below.

Master classes are 3 day sessions (90 minutes per session).

• Workshops are generally team taught, and are 4 - 6 weeks in duration (2-90 minute sessions per week).

• Residencies are team taught, and are 7-14 weeks in duration (2-90 minute sessions per week)

Workshops and Residencies culminate with a performance by participants.

Drum Master Sessions

A master world music percussionist, The ZYG 808 offers master classes, workshops, and residencies in in percussion for music programs in schools (Grades 7-12), community programs, and conservatories. Each can accommodate up to 12 people. Students are introduced to and experience various techniques, styles, forms and time expansions used in in the genres of jazz, rock, funk, Hip-Hop, Caribbean, and Afrobeat.

Hip-Hop Music Workshop/ Cipher

The ZYG 808 offers workshops and residencies in lyric writing, performance, and artist development as single workshops as well as 8 and 12-week educational residencies with schools, colleges, community arts programs, and institutions.

Each workshop culminates with a presentation by the participants.

The international range of musical styles and genres explored in the , all with the common goal of making people dance. As a very culturally diverse and rich musical experience. Participants and audiences have often discovered new genres or branches of musical genres and cultures by attending one of our programs.

Common Object Percussion

If you have a heartbeat, you have an internal sense of rhythm that you might have been ignoring. Using such common items as wood blocks, sticks, plastic buckets, and desk tops, students learn the rudiments of percussion and work toward developing an ensemble performance. An 8-10 week residency:

Bring the Thump & Soul Clap Dance Party to your school, event or private function!!! A dance party featuring some of the best R&B, Hyper Pop, Afrobeat, House, and Hip-Hop in existence.

Combined with the Hip-Hop Workshop/Cipher, or Everything’s A Drum, this dance party provides the perfect Culminating event for participants to perform; bringing the community together for a dance celebration.
